§ 01 — The work

We are looking for a senior audio producer who treats the prep call as the single most important hour of the production — not the recording day. You will own shows from format pitch through public launch, and you will be in the room (or behind the glass) for most recordings.

Our audio work runs to four-to-ten-episode limited series and biweekly interview shows. We host, mix, and master in-studio. We expect our producers to write outlines as good as our writers do, and to know the difference between an interview that has gone off-script and one that has gone wrong.

This is a senior role on a small team. You will be hiring contract editors and engineers project-by-project, working with the studio's executive producer on slate, and mentoring junior producers as they come on.

§ 02 — What we look for

  • 01Seven-plus years producing podcasts at a serious outlet (public radio, magazine podcasts, independent shops)
  • 02Production credits on at least two limited series you would be proud to send a writer
  • 03Comfort in long interviews — willing and able to teach hosts the silence beat
  • 04Editorial taste — opinions about scoring, mix, cadence
  • 05Willingness to do the booking work yourself when needed

§ 03 — What we don't

We try to be specific about who this role is not for.

  • ×Project managers without editorial taste
  • ×Producers who learned podcasting on Zoom and have stayed there
  • ×Anyone who thinks the show is ready when the recording ends

§ 04 — Apply

Send your work, not a cover letter.

Send three episodes you produced (with a sentence each on what you did), one outline document you wrote, and a paragraph on the show you think is overrated.

Include

  • Three episodes with your role and contribution
  • One outline or prep document
  • Short note on a show you would push back on

We read every application within two weeks. We respond to every applicant whose work we read, even briefly. We do not use ATS keyword filters.
