§ 01 — The work
We hire reporters who like the doing of reporting — the cold call, the freedom-of-information request, the third interview that finally yields the thing the first two danced around. You will write longform features for client publications and occasional op-eds under principal bylines.
The work is varied. In a given quarter you might be reporting a feature on a community health network, drafting an op-ed for a foundation president, and chasing a single quote that has been the missing piece of a piece for six weeks.
We pay for reporting. Travel and source meals are not a fight — they are the budget. Our writers are expected to read widely and have opinions about what does and doesn't work in the form.
